Family Recipes

Now, I do not want to give away all my secrets, but on this page I will post a few of our favorite family recipes! Some are our own, some have been passed down generations and some may have just been discovered on the back of a bag of chocolate chips!

I could not think of a better recipe to start with than your classic homemade bread! My mom Janneene Bivins' gave us this recipe! This bread was super special in my home growing up! We would practically eat it for dessert, freshly warm out of the oven with a little bit of butter on top!

YIELD: 2 Loaves

  • 2 cups warm water
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 1\2 tablespoon active dry yeast
  • 1 1\2 teaspoons of salt
  • 1\4 cup oil (Canola, olive whatever floats your boat or in this case vinegar hahhaahaha bad science joke)
  •  6 cups flour

Directions
Mix warm water with sugar until disolved
Add yeast, wait for it to foam. (No foam equals bad yeast)
Add oil & salt
Add flour one cup at a time, while mixing
Mix with a kitchen aid or your really buff arms until doughy
Kneed it, allow it to rise in pan till it looks ready (bubbly)
Tip: Making soup or something steamy will help it rise faster also bread will not rise well in a really cold house!
Shape it and need it into a greased loaf pan
Bake at 350 degrees F
20-30 minutes
&
WALLAH

We have a delicious recipe in the family for classic chocolate chip cookies! It was given to me by my  mother in law Christina Batistich!
(I will be posting this recipe soon!)
